Thighplasty

When you are very overweight, the low elasticity of the skin on the inner thighs can often lead to excess ‘hanging’ skin. Unfortunately, the elastic properties of the skin cannot be increased, so if the excess skin is very large, only surgery – a thigh lift – can restore the aesthetic shape of the thighs.

How is the surgery performed?

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2-2.5 hours on average. The surgery removes excess loose skin and subcutaneous tissue. The incisions are usually made longitudinally on the inner side of the thigh and in the groin crease (T-shaped, fishtail-shaped incisions), with the aim of minimizing the appearance of the postoperative scar. The post-operative scar is only visible when the inner side of the thigh is brought forward. The post-operative scar is not visible from the front or back. Thigh lift surgery can also be combined with liposuction.

What should I pay attention to after surgery?

  • You cannot smoke for two weeks after surgery. Smoking adversely affects blood circulation, which can impair wound healing.
  • Special compression trousers must be worn for 6-8 weeks after surgery;
  • After the surgery, an individual course of lymphatic drainage massage is recommended for maximum results and to reduce swelling in the feet and calves:
  • Post-operative scars should be protected from direct sunlight for at least half a year.
