When you are very overweight, the low elasticity of the skin on the inner thighs can often lead to excess ‘hanging’ skin. Unfortunately, the elastic properties of the skin cannot be increased, so if the excess skin is very large, only surgery – a thigh lift – can restore the aesthetic shape of the thighs.
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2-2.5 hours on average. The surgery removes excess loose skin and subcutaneous tissue. The incisions are usually made longitudinally on the inner side of the thigh and in the groin crease (T-shaped, fishtail-shaped incisions), with the aim of minimizing the appearance of the postoperative scar. The post-operative scar is only visible when the inner side of the thigh is brought forward. The post-operative scar is not visible from the front or back. Thigh lift surgery can also be combined with liposuction.
